I adore Bucky! I mean seriously, I want a Bucky Teddy Bear!! He has slowly become one of my favorite characters and there are so many things I like about him but one thing stands out to me above the rest - Bucky is disabled. I knew that but I didn't really know. One day it just struck me - Bucky is an amputee thus making him disabled! That is just so awesome! I love that the first thing Cap see when he realizes that Bucky is the Winter Soldier is that it's his best friend who has been made into a killing machine. It doesn't even matter that Bucky is missing his arm and leg, Cap doesn't feel sorry for Bucky - no, he wants to help because he's his friend. In fact, his disability is never called into play.

There is just one other thing that makes Bucky even more special to me. His disability is in his left arm just like me. I'm not an amputee but I have nerve damage and lack of muscle development in my whole left arm. And to see this amazing character presented with a disability just makes me so proud! I am proud to see characters like this who are treated the same as the others and not played up for pity. They took Bucky's 'weakness' and made it a strength. It doesn't define who he is, it is simply part of him. And I just love how they treat that aspect of Bucky! That is just so beautiful to me! I seriously can't even express how much that is so precious and amazing and seriously awe inspiring it is to me.
